Grant Writing Fellowship

Talking Grants offers a grant writing and development fellowship program. The fellowship provides individuals with grant research, proposal research, proposal writing, and proposal tracking experience.

The program prepares the individual to submit grants to corporations, foundations, state and federal organizations. Individuals will write and submit a proposal on the behalf of an organization of choice.

Goals

The Grant Writing Fellowship program aims to develop your skills and competencies in the following as a Grant Writer:

Grant Research

Grant writers look for funders and agencies with goals that align with the client organization’s goals. They look into projects that the funders have previously funded and assessed if they are the right funders for their client. Grant writers study the requirements of the grant and check if the client meets them.

Proposal Research

Grant writers gather information needed by the proposal. They coordinate with key persons within the client organization to learn more about the nature of the project, the outcomes, timetable, budget, evaluation methods, and more. They also coordinate requirements needed (photos, documents, etc.).

Proposal Writing

Grant writers keep track of all outstanding proposals they have submitted to monitor if the clients have been granted funding. They usually maintain connections with grant donors to make for easier research the next time they are hired for grant writing.

Proposal Tracking

Grant writers craft grant proposals that help their client secure funding for their projects and services. Proposal writing requires a specialized skill set, as it accurately illustrates how the project is aligned with the funder and how the funding will translate into a meaningful project all in a strong, convincing language.

Some examples of the skills that the Grant Writing Fellowship will help you develop are:
